Well, we had a great day at Cruden Farm, what a lovely venue.

I would like to sincerely thank the Mornington Pleasure Harness Club for the loan of their equipment & some of their members for their help on the day. Also our sponsor, Equinade, for some product samples for the competitors, Dame Elizabeth Murdoch for opening her home to the public, our judge, Lisa Hocking, and of course, the competitors and other helpers for coming along and so obviously having some fun :)

I have an old pony (26) who has just retired from harness work and I am planning to get another pony for trail drives. I am not interested in showing, but would like to learn how to train a pony to harness. Is there a club that has social events and trail drives not too far from Drouin that I could join.

I have 2 miniature horses and one of them is old enough now to start with the basics of training.

I am just as green as my little horses are so I have no idea where to start. I notice you have some training days coming up which might be a good place to start.

At this point I don't have a harness or cart but I'm certainly getting all the info I can gather.

If anyone would like to contact me with advice or help, I would be forever grateful.

I live in Dales Creek, which is located between Bacchus Marsh and Ballan, 5 mins from Blackwood.

Thought members would love to see this fantastic photo and article about Cheryl Dowling and her incredible pony, "JB".

These two have a wonderful partnership which has led them to winning 3 Victorian Carriage Driving Championships in a row! (Mustn't forget hubby Tom!!)

Hi, I have just been given a 13/2 welsh x pony and jinker, so I am very new to the world of carriage driving. However, I have had her out on the road a couple fo times and thoroughly enjoy it. I also have (amongst all the others) a young clydesdale mare, which I ride, but I am also interested in training her to harness. She is only 3, but has a pretty placid nature, and takes to most things pretty easily. Of course the pony jinker won't fit her, howeveer I think I have enough bits of harness to make a set for her. Good enough to get started with anyway. I would welcome any tips on how to train her, or hear from anyone interested in giving me a hand! Regards, Julie.
